Mabo was bred by Richard Bull of Tamarang. Mabo is by the legendary Docs Freckles Oak, himself the most incredible cutting horse. He is the sire of a Warwick Gold cup winner in Lets Talk Later. Mabo’s full sisters are the great mares Stardust and Serene campaigned by the Master campdrafter Bruce McNaughton. Another full sister is Goldilocks the mother of Alan Hannaford’s Tassas Robin Hood.
The Docs Freckles Oak line is right at the top of the tree of popular genetics. Docs Freckles Oak is by Docs Oak out of the same mare as Docs Spinifex. Docs Freckles Oak’s remaining sons and daughters are becoming older and more scarce to access. The short cut to these genetics is Mabo who will be 24 years old this spring, so his future offspring will be limited.
Mothers are all important in producing Great Sires. Mabo’s mother was ‘Docs Baby Doll’ who is by the great cutting horse sire Hollywood Return. This family is full of cow sense.
Offspring of Mabo are highly trainable, have adequate size, well conformed and are good looking.
