International Women's Day Luncheon with Pam Burridge
The Women's Connection of Milton Ulladulla, are thrilled to announce international award winning surfing trailblazer, Pam Burridge as their 2024 Keynote Speaker!
This year's International Women's Day theme is 'Inclusion', and Pam is just a tad qualified to speak on women in the traditionally male-dominated surfing arena.
Pam arrived at a time when the sport needed her most. When she first started out, women were not part of the world tour and the competition for girls was limited. Sister of an Olympic swimmer, she began surfing in 1975 at the age of 10. She won the Australian National Titles at 15 and instantly turned pro.
Her surfing career was solid, she was able to maintain an overall ranking of number two in the world throughout the 1980's, although the chase for the World Championship title eluded her until 1990 when she won the World Championship by what was then a record margin and became the first Australian woman to do so, but her contribution to the sport extends far beyond winning a world title.
The Community Bank South Coast will once again provide a courtesy bus, departing from Ulladulla Civic Centre at 9:30am and returning everyone at 2pm.
Upon arrival, guests will enjoy a light morning tea in the gardens and a delectable lunch.
