“Horses have been my passion my entire life and coming from a ‘non-horsey’ family, it has been a forever evolving journey which has provided me with opportunities I am proud of and extremely grateful for. I started competing when I was 11-years-old at Pony Club and I was convinced I wanted to be an Eventer. I regularly got penalties for going too fast on my pony in the cross-country phase and couldn’t really understand why that was a problem.

Showjumping for me started with Grant Hughes at Forrest Park Riding School. Grant’s clinics, training days, grid lessons and shows had a huge influence over many of the top riders in the region and gave us all so much exposure to the sport. I loved the style, technicality and accuracy involved in showjumping and went through the ranks wanting to be a good rider and producer of horses.

When I started competing at bigger shows across NSW, Tom and Greg McDermott were willing to take me on as a student. Tom has been my trainer for almost 10 years, and I have been fortunate to have him as a mentor. Tom has taught me to work hard, not give up and pretty much… how to ride!

I started in my first FEI World Cup at the Melbourne Royal show in 2014. I was 18-years-old riding Cosmorex Coffee Latte. Shortly after, I completed year 12 and decided to go to Europe to train and compete. I went to Böckmann Horses and Döller Sport Horses in Germany and stayed for 2 years; it was like a university for everything to do with horses, I learnt a lot and most importantly I learnt to work hard.

When returning from Germany, I was determined to start my own equestrian business. I was fortunate to have the backing of my parents and a beautiful property to start me off. I now currently run Ouverture Sport Horses AU based in Sutton NSW and Majura ACT where we have 40 horses across 2 farms. Ouverture specialises in producing, training, and selling top quality sport horses. We also have a talented group of up-and-coming riders that train with us full time.

Running a business has been challenging particularly when trying to balance my studies. I am currently in my 3rd year studying a Bachelor of Laws by correspondence at the University of New England. However, running my business is consistently rewarding and allows me to do what I love.

I currently have an exciting team of horses. Lincoln MVNZ is my leading Grand Prix horse at the moment, he has comfortably jumped some of Australia’s biggest classes and I am looking forward to the 2021 AJTL and World Cup League with him. I also have 3 talented young horses; Tulara Stolzette, Conchita van de Helle and Yalambi’s Jasmine. It has taken a while to establish such a quality team however, I am confident that these horses will have a bright future.

In the 2021 AJTL I will be ridding Lincoln MVNZ for Team Willinga Park. It is an honour to ride alongside some of Australia’s most elite professionals and horses. Willinga Park raisers the bar for everything equestrian, and I am so proud to be a part of this year’s AJTL team.”
