Course Designers chosen for Mentorship at Willinga Park with Mike Etherington-Smith.

Willinga Park is pleased to announce the appointment of two budding course designers to take part in a mentorship with internationally renowned course designer Mike Etherington-Smith. The  designers will help design and build the cross-country courses for Willinga Park’s first ever One Day Event in October 2020.

Congratulations to Jarryd Stanley from Lilydale, VIC and Yona Lloyd from Coghills Creek, VIC and welcome to the Willinga Park team.

The mentorship will give the two designers a chance to further their course design skills under the tutelage of one of the world’s best. Mike has long been passionate about creating world-class courses that challenge both horse and rider, and is aiming to build a team of top-notch course designers here in Australia.

Eventing@Willinga will take place over two days in October 2020, from 24th to 25th October and the new eventing course will run alongside Willinga Park’s existing elite equine facilities. Guided by Mike, Jarryd will lead the design of the CCI2* -S and Yona will lead the design of the CCN1* -S, whilst Mike will design the CCI3*-S and CCI4*-S.

“We’re delighted to be able to give these two gentleman the opportunity to learn from Mike Etherington-Smith. Having Mike educate these guys allows us to not only have the best here guiding us but also further educate our designers here on home soil.’’ Says Willinga Park’s Terry Snow. “Once we’ve completed this cross-country course, we’ll have a truly world-class venue that caters for all the Olympic equine disciplines.”
