Gastrointestinal Disease

For horses with weight loss, poor appetite, colic, or suspected ulcers, we offer a range of gastrointestinal diagnostic services. These include abdominal ultrasound, gastroscopy, radiography, absorption testing, faecal egg count, Salmonella culture, and peritoneal fluid analysis, allowing us to assess organ function and identify diseases such as gastric ulcers and inflammatory bowel disease. Our comprehensive diagnostics also allow us to evaluate for liver and kidney disorders.

    Respiratory Disease

    We evaluate horses presenting with cough, nasal discharge, poor performance, or difficulty breathing. Diagnostic services include upper airway endoscopy, bronchoscopy, thoracic ultrasound, radiography, bronchoalveolar lavage, and tracheal aspirates. These tools allow us to identify conditions such as asthma (inflammatory airway disease), EIPH (bleeders), bacterial infections, and other respiratory disorders, enabling targeted treatment plans.

      Neuromuscular Evaluation

      Our board-certified internal medicine performs neuromuscular evaluation for symptoms such as altered gait, incoordination, abnormal behaviour, seizures, stiffness, and tying up. Diagnostic services offered include digital radiography, cerebrospinal fluid collection, exercise testing, and muscle biopsy. The design of our G-scan MRI also enables the creation of exceptional three-dimensional images, providing a comprehensive view of the head and cranial neck.

        Cardiovascular Assessment

        Our team utilises state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment to perform echocardiograms (cardiac ultrasound) and electrocardiograms (ECG). This allows for comprehensive assessment of the heart's anatomy, size, and function. We diagnose and manage various cardiac abnormalities, such as valvular diseases, heart failure, and arrhythmias.

          Ophthalmic Evaluation

          Our hospital offers comprehensive services for treating eye diseases and injuries in horses. Eye conditions addressed include ulcers, infections, masses, glaucoma, and uveitis. From medical management to surgical interventions, we prioritise the best possible outcome for your horse’s ocular health. For especially challenging cases, we consult board-certified ophthalmologists, further enhancing our capacity to address intricate and specialised conditions.
